Halle Berry & Gabriel Aubry might be reaching a quiet truce

Halle Berry & Gabriel Aubry might be reaching a quiet truce

fp_7144025_berryhalle_staples_roq_01_02

Over the past week, Halle Berry has been getting pap’d constantly. It was getting to the point where I was wondering if there was another big build-up in access to her in exchange for various media outlets getting strategic “leaks” about Gabriel Aubry’s alleged abuse and racism. Well… that still might happen, but for now I’m cautiously optimistic. TMZ reports that Halle and Gabriel were in court yesterday, and that they are close to finalizing their custodial agreement for Nahla.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry just left the L.A. County Courthouse, after trying to finalize a custody settlement with the judge.

TMZ was in the courtroom when Judge Mark Juhas said to Gabriel and his lawyers, “We’re making huge progress. We need to stick with it.”

Halle and her lawyers, Neal Hersh and Judy Bogen, went into chambers to talk with the judge. Before that, Gabriel and his lawyers, Gary Fishbein and Kristina Royce, went into chambers to jawbone with hizzoner.

We’re told it’s all part of a settlement conference over Nahla’s custody and visitation. The major stumbling block has been Halle’s acting schedule, which takes her out of town from time to time.

From what happened this AM, it looks like Halle and Gabriel are on the verge of an agreement — and a truce.

[From TMZ]

Am I the only one peeved by this news? I mean, I appreciate that Halle and Gabe are both FINALLY acting like adults and keeping their personal dramas quiet, but on the other side, I remember all the crap Halle said about Gabriel, and it bothers me that no one else is bringing it up. If Gabe was such a horrible, abusive, neglectful racist, why is are the final custodial discussions going so smoothly? Shouldn’t Halle be fighting harder? Unless she was just making that stuff up completely, right? So… why isn’t that being addressed? Is it because everybody’s just happy that Halle’s Crazy is subdued for now? What happens when it rears up again?

Making for quite the celebratory start to the weekend, Halle Berry emerged as a big winner at the 42nd NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, CA on Friday night (March 4).

The 44-year-old actress made two trips to the podium at The Shrine Auditorium upon being selected as Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Independent Motion Picture honoree for "Frankie and Alice" at the annual event.

With the awards show coming as Miss Berry has been immersed in a custody battle over daughter Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, the Oscar-winning actress told of her child-raising efforts, "It is just joy, it's joy. I wouldn't say it's the hardest work I do, I would say it's the best work I do."

Voicing her desire to be a proper role model for her growing girl, Halle added, "I hope she's proud of me. I'm sure she won't like everything I've done, but I hope she will appreciate that I dared to be myself and always did what I believed in. I hope those are qualities that I pass on to her."

Halle Berry always kills it in the fashion department, and she certainly certainly brought it on the 2011 Academy Award red carpet.

The Oscar-winning actress wore a showstopping, crystal-encrusted corset gown with organza and silk tulle ruffles by Marchesa. Simple makeup and large diamond earrings completed the look. Halle is on hand to present at this year’s ceremonies.

Only hours after going to court with her daughter Nahla's father, Gabriel Aubry, news breaks that Halle Berry will now rejoin the cast of New Year's Eve, a film she had recently pulled out of.

A rep for New Line and a rep for Berry both tell ET that the actress will indeed have a role in New Year's Eve, though it will be a different role than her original part, which was taken over by Katherine Heigl.

Back in January, Berry reportedly gave up her original role in the film in order to be available for litigation regarding a custody battle over Nahla.

Only hours after going to court with her daughter Nahla's father, Gabriel Aubry, news breaks that Halle Berry will now rejoin the cast of 'New Year's Eve,' a film she had recently pulled out of.

Berry met in a Los Angeles Superior courtroom Wednesday to discuss custody issues with Aubry, a source tells ET. Aubry filed papers Tuesday in the same court to dismiss the custody case where he wanted to be legally recognized as the father of the young girl. Berry and Aubry were in a heated dispute earlier this month amid reports of angry emails, text messages, voicemails and an ugly accusation of racism.

Gabriel Aubry Accused of Berating, Insulting Halle Berry

Gabriel Aubry Accused of Berating, Insulting Halle Berry

Those close to Gabriel Aubry say this Canadian model has been forced to take Halle Berry to court because he fears her jealous rage over his dating life will result in less time spent with the couple's daughter, Nahla.

As reps for the two sides exchange public barbs, it's been unclear why Berry says she "has serious concerns" over Aubrey's interactions with the two-year old. Until now.

Battling for her Baby
For more on Halle Berry's battle with Gabriel Aubry, read this People cover story.

In the latest issue of People, Aubry's former business partner, Stephane Bibeau, describes his ex-friend as "vindictive" and says: "Once they broke up, he became verbally threatening to Halle Berry."

Insiders tell the magazine and TMZ these threats included the use of the "N word" and other slurs.
Explains one friend of Aubry's:

"From the beginning, Halle Berry kind of had the upper hand because she was essentially supporting all of them for the most part. Gabriel never liked how that felt. Their split was tough because they're both so involved in raising Nahla, and neither ever wanted to give that up."

Aretha Franklin: Halle Berry was 'not my only choice'

Aretha Franklin: Halle Berry was 'not my only choice'

Actress Halle Berry arrives at the Golden Globe Awards Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, in Beverly Hills, Calif.

By Matt Sayles, AP
Aretha Franklin had said she would like Halle Berry to play her in a biopic being written now.

But Halle Berry was modest in an interview with E! during the Golden Globes, saying, "If I could carry a tune, I'd consider it. Someone should tell Aretha that I can't do her justice."

Now Franklin has responded to that, issuing a response to Wendy Williams on Monday, saying:

"I would have liked Halle Berry to portray the older Aretha in the upcoming biopic of my life based on my memoir Aretha: From These Roots. She was my first, but not my only choice.

Everything is subject to negotiation and she shouldn't underestimate her own talent. There are a number of other leading ladies out there that can definitely handle the role."

She continued: "I never expected Halle Berry to sing, she's an actress, not a singer. Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-syncing to the artist's original recordings."

Williams put her two cents in, suggesting Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah or Taraji P. Henson could handle the role. What do you say?

Gabriel Aubry vs. Halle Berry: It's War!

Gabriel Aubry vs. Halle Berry:
It's War!

Apparently, there's a reason why Gabriel Aubry recently panicked over his paternity.

The Canadian model filed a motion on December 30 to be officially, legally declared the father of Nahla, the two-year old daughter he shares with Halle Berry. Insiders tell Radar Online his concern over custody status is based on a series of explosive fights with his ex.

"Whenever Gabriel doesn't do exactly what Halle Berry tells him to do, or if he does something she doesn't approve of or like, she goes crazy on him, screaming and shouting," the source says.

G. Aubry Berry's Boobs

Referring to Berry as someone with a "nasty temper," this friend says things grew more heated than ever near the end of the year, as Aubry was spotted out in public with Kim Kardashian and others.

"Halle was absolutely furious and had a complete melt-down. She basically gave him an ultimatum: choose between dating other women and carrying on being on her good side... in the end he just got sick of being bossed around and told what to do by his ex-girlfriend."

For that reason, Aubry can't trust that he and Berry can peacefully work out a custody arrangement outside a courtroom.

The source makes it clear that Gabriel believes Halle Berry is a good mother, and has no intention of fighting for full custody of Nahla. He just wants to ensure his rights as her father are protected, especially as Berry has allegedly gone to extreme lengths to discredit him.

"Gabriel Aubry told me that he believes Halle Berry is having him tailed by a private investigator, and he's not just some paranoid dude with a wild imagination... if she thinks a PI is going to dig up anything salacious or scandalous I think she'll be sorely disappointed. Gabriel's one of the straightest, nicest, bordering on boring guys I know."

Gabriel Aubry Files For Physical And Legal Custody Of Nahla

Gabriel Aubry Files For Physical And Legal Custody Of Nahla

I’m confused here. I was under the impression that Gabriel Aubry and Halle Berry have stayed on good terms for the sake of their daughter, Nahla. There doesn’t seem to be much animosity between the two of them. I know they’ve had a few custody disputes, but honestly, they sounded more like scheduling conflicts over who Nahla would stay with while Halle worked and I never thought that would amount to anything too serious.

But this doesn’t sound good. Things could get ugly between them. Gabriel filed a petition to be legally recognized as Nahla’s father.

A source says,
Gabriel , who split with the 44-year-old star in April 2010, is also seeking to establish physical and legal custody of the child, whose surname is already registered as Aubry.
Yikes. I hope that Gabriel and Halle can keep it civil for Nahla’s sake. They are both her parents and they both deserve to spend time with their daughter.

Halle Berry’s Daughter Was Not Impressed By Her Golden Globe Nomination!

Halle Berry’s Daughter Was Not Impressed By Her Golden Globe Nomination!

Halle Berry woke up to the news that she was nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role in Frankie and Alice, but that didn’t seem to phase her 2 year old daughter, Nahla! Berry told USA Today that life still goes on as normal!
“I haven’t had coffee and I’m giving my daughter breakfast so I’m a little scattered,”
“I was dead asleep. I knew when my phone rang and it was dark outside its good news. I’m going to be with my daughter. We’re just doing our thing. For her its life is normal but I’m out of my head. For her, it’s ‘Mom, give me some eggs.’”

I love that! No matter what we do, we’re still just the egg makers for our kids!  When asked if Nahla understands what her Mom does for a living, Berry responded;
“She knows I get dressed up and wear high heels. She thinks that’s what I do,”
How cute is that?! While that might be what Nahla thinks her Mom does, Berry is very thankful for her nomination, because it means great things for the movie;
“This movie a month ago was on the shelf. We got a distributor at the 11th hour. This nomination means that we can open in a big way. We might actually have foreign distribution now. That’s what this kind of thing means to me,”
Have you seen the trailer for Frankie and Alice? It looks like it’s quite the intense movie – and it’s nice to see that Halle has been recognized for her work!

I am in love with her coat! It is so gorgeous, I love the neckline on it – it looks so warm but super stylish too!
I really love Halle’s hair short too. Although I don’t think she can look bad no matter how she wears her hair, but I find when it’s short it’s kinda like her signature look, don’t you?

Olivier Martinez Goes Off On Paparazzo After Lunch With Halle Berry

It looks like Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have had ENOUGH of the paparazzi photographing them! They were spotted leaving a West Hollywood restaurant yesterday. Halle looks like she was annoyed but not enough to dim her mood.

However, it looks like that wasn’t the case for Olivier. As you can see from some of the pictures below, he was photographed confronting a paparazzo. Wonder if the photographer said something to set him off?

E! News reports that the photographer filed a police report, alleging that Olivier threated him. Oops.
