Emma Watson Officially Leaves Brown University

Emma Watson Officially Leaves Brown University

Having previously revealed her decision to "take a break" from studies at Brown University, Emma Watson has now confirmed that she has opted to withdraw from the Ivy League institution completely.

While rumors that she was a victim of bullying have been adamantly denied, a spokeswoman has told that the "Harry Potter" actress made the move to "pursue a different course not offered by the school."

Emma first began her collegiate career back in fall 2009, but will now take her educational efforts elsewhere - with no new school being named thus far.

The news of her Brown departure comes shortly after Miss Watson celebrated her 21st birthday on April 15th, as she told fans in a video posting: “Just a quick message to say thank you for all the Birthday wishes and gifts you’ve sent. I’m continually overwhelmed by the support from you all. It means so much to me, so thank you very much."

She added, "Turning 21 is a significant occasion for everyone, and it’s proved to be quite a milestone.”

Emma Watson dropped out of college because she’s a perfectionist

Emma Watson dropped out of college because she’s a perfectionist

fp_6978016_ang_watson_emma_lancomecomm_17_18

About a month ago, I was giving Emma Watson a hard time, and many of you yelled at me. She dropped out of Brown University, perhaps temporarily, perhaps not, and I thought the whole thing was rather fishy. She announced her “break” from university and immediately flew to Paris to shoot a commercial for Lancôme - it seemed like a Lohan move from a girl who was being promoted as another Jodie Foster-Natalie Portman. Well, Emma has a new interview with the AP where she talks a little bit more about her break from college, and why she needed it. Oh, she also has some funny little judgy things to say about Kate Middleton too!

Emma Watson has a lot of sympathy for Kate Middleton. The royal bride-to-be is under a worldwide spotlight ahead of her April 29 wedding to Prince William – with special focus on fashion, what she’ll wear for her big day. Only two billion people may be watching, according to one British minister.

“Poor girl, that must be an incredible amount of pressure,” Watson told The Associated Press in an interview earlier this month. “I hope she’s enjoying it. Must be intense.”

Watson herself knows something about life in the spotlight. Over the last eleven years she’s grown up on screen and in public from a child actress to a film star. These days who she’s dating is big entertainment news, what she’s wearing is dissected by fashionistas around the globe, which products she is endorsing fuels business stories. A simple trip to the hairdresser to cut her long golden brown hair into an elfin crop made international headlines. Along with co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, Watson’s brought the magical books of JK Rowling to life, by playing Harry Potter’s bookish but gutsy pal Hermione Granger.

And, like her character, Watson has always been studious. She enrolled to study liberal arts at Rhode Island’s Brown University in 2009. But being a movie star and an Ivy League student took its toll, and she says commuting back and forth to the U.S. left her stressed out. Ever the perfectionist, Watson couldn’t stand delivering a below-average performance, so she took some time off. How very Hermione.

“I just knew I was going to be beating myself up because I wasn’t going to be able to be doing the best that I knew that I could at school or in my job,” she said. “If I’d been getting B’s or C’s I would’ve been really upset.”

So she will be returning to school in September after helping to promote the final two films. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ is out on DVD in the U.S. on April 15 – with “Part 2,” the last installment, set for release in July.

Watson also found time for another movie role in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” which starts filming in May.

Watson also plans to check out Radcliffe’s Broadway stint singing and dancing in “How to Succeed to Business Without Really Trying” – and admits she’s very tempted to follow in his tip-tapping footsteps.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” she explained. “The idea of having a live audience is just really appealing to me. I think that must be an amazing experience.”

So, for the girl who turns 21 on Friday, life is good.

“I just had so many amazing opportunities come my way. I just want to make the best of everything,” Watson said.

[From The Associated Press via HuffPo]

Maybe I was too harsh about the college stuff. If I was too hard on her, and she ends up returning to Brown in September, I will apologize to her in writing. If she ends up lolling around, “modeling” and party-hopping, however, I will resume to my previous judgment of her: please, Emma, less Lohan and more… being a student.

Regarding the Waity Katie stuff - I can’t decide if Emma is being sympathetic or if she’s being judgy and her every word is dripping with condescension. It can be read either way. “Poor girl, that must be an incredible amount of pressure. I hope she’s enjoying it. Must be intense.” I think she’s aiming for sympathetic, right?

Emma Watson's Parisian Lancome Shoot Continues

Emma Watson's Parisian Lancome Shoot Continues

Hard at work for the second straight day, Emma Watson stepped out to film a new advertising campaign for Lancome in Paris, France on Tuesday (March 15).

The "Harry Potter" actress, who was just unveiled as the new face of the beauty brand, was given the star treatment as she was helped from her trailer by a doting male assistant.

Looking Parisian chic in lace shorts, a white shirt and black tie, Emma's new ad spot for her employer is being shot by the renowned photographer Mario Testino in various locales throughout the French capital city.

Prior to her official appointment to the Lancome gig, Miss Watson teasingly tweeted, "It starts with an L and ends with an E. I’m sure you have guessed the new face of Lancôme is me!"

Quickly getting to work upon being officially named as the brand's new face, Emma Watson was busy shooting ads for Lancome in Paris, France on Monday evening (March 14).

The "Harry Potter" hottie kept herself hydrated with a bottled water as she interacted with famed photographer Mario Testino during the City of Lights photo session.

Breaking the news of Emma's appointment earlier in the day, Youcef Nabi, Lancome International honcho, told press, “Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation.”

He continued, “We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancome.”

Meanwhile, Miss Watson had previously hinted that she was working with Lancome via Twitter, as she wrote: "A new venture is starting - what can it be? Follow my clues and you will see... It starts with an L and ends with an E. I’m sure you have guessed the new face of Lancôme is me!"

Emma Watson Taking A Break From College

Emma Watson Taking A Break From College

Emma Watson shared on her website that she’s taking some time off from Brown University due to her upcoming crazy schedule for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II” and a few other projects she’s lining up.
“As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything. But recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.
I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree … it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : ). Hope you are all well! Thank you for all your continuing support. Emma xx.”
I’m sure it was a tough decision for her, as she’s often talked about how much she has loved the college experience, but I’m sure the Harry Potter agenda is going to be INSANE. It’s hectic enough for Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint when a new movie is about to be released, but considering the fact that this is the LAST film, I’m sure it’ll be 200x more demanding time-wise. I can’t wait to see her first post-Harry project! She has a part in the upcoming “My Summer With Marilyn” and is signed on for “Perks of Being a Wallflower“, as well.

Emma Watson Wants Her Long Hair Back

Emma Watson Wants Her Long Hair Back

http://judyhalone.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Emma-Watson.jpg
Emma Watson — who hot fame after starring in Harry Potter — says that she wants to grow her hair back like the way before she cut off her hair last year.

“I am trying to grow it but it’s slow, it’s taking a while obviously, If I want to keep acting then it’s more flexible for me to have it longer for different roles, it’s quite a specific cut. I’m kind of looking forward to getting to a cute little bob stage.” ” she said.

Emma Watson — who has earned millions playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie franchise — recently admitted she hasn’t got a clue how she wants to spend her money.

“I have way too much money to know what to do with it,” she said.

“I bought a laptop, and a Toyota Prius when I passed my driving test, but that’s the most expensive things I’ve spent my money on outside my education.”

Emma Watson thinks it’s funny when people recognize her on the London Underground.

“The funny thing is people look at me and go, ‘Is that the girl from Harry Potter?’ And then they shake their heads and say: ‘No, it can’t be, she’s on public transport.’ And I’m sat there secretly thinking: ‘Ha Ha that’s funny’,” she said.

Emma Watson: 2011 BAFTA Beauty

Emma Watson: 2011 BAFTA Beauty

Making her way to the red carpet, Emma Watson was among the stars partaking in the Orange British Academy Film Awards 2011 in London, England on Sunday (February 13).

Held at The Royal Opera House, the "Harry Potter" actress looked darling as she readied for the much-awaited BAFTA festivities.

The ceremony sees Jonathan Ross as host for the fifth year while being broadcast on BBC1.
Of the event, Deputy Bafta chairman David Parfitt was high on British films this year around, as he said, "British film has always punched above its weight in the film world. British film is always quite well represented in the Oscars as well as the Baftas."

"It's not that we have a particular bias. British film in general plays well around the world because it's very good."
